Starting from The Bicycle Emporium, head west out of town and onto the Pacific Motorway. Nice wide shoulder there and head south until you cross two small bridges then turn left into Pimlico Rd to get away from the traffic. A peaceful roll through farmland, mostly sugar cane to the intersection with Signata Lane. Turn right here and follow around to the left onto the old Pacific Highway and follow this south to Wardell.
At Wardell turn right at the crossroads into Carlisle St, then right again into Bath St, which later becomes Wardell Rd. There is an option to continue straight ahead along Carlisle St, which becomes Back Channel Rd heading towards Cabbage Tree Island, then right into Old Bagotville Road for about 6km of gravel before meeting Bagotville Rd near the Tuckean Broadwater Barrage.
At the intersection of Carlisle and Bath St you can turn right into Wardell to find Public Toilets and drinking water. Continue along Bath St into Wardell of coffee, snacks, etc., if required.
Heading out of Wardell along Bath St-Wardell Rd towards Alstonville continue until you cross the Pacific Motorway and up three little rollers and coast down the other side looking for the left turn in Bagotville Rd. Follow Bagotville Rd through farmland, historically dairy farms, now many hobby farms and residences as well until you reach the T-intersection at the end of Bagotville Rd and turn left. Follow this road to the bridge over the Richmond River at Broadwater.
As you come off the bridge you'll find the old Pacific Highway, now named Blackwall Drive. On the opposite side of Blackwall Drive you'll see a park with public toilets and drinking water. A little north of the park on the left there is a gas station with drinks and snacks and also a pub.
Head north out of Broadwater towards Wardell. Just before the bridge at Wardell, turn right into River Dr. I prefer to turn left a bit before that and roll around under the bridge by the river and join River Dr at the Byron St intersection.
Follow River Dr north to the ferry at Burns Point and take the ferry back across the Richmond River and head back into town. The ferry was previously $1, but is now free for bicycles.
